Witching is an ode to the mysterious, fierce and magical creatures; women.

Throughout history, women have been demonised and portrayed as witches, bringers of misfortune and evil. This immersive performance aims to change this narrative and celebrate the superpowers of the female body. It does so by exploring the idea of ‘witching’ as an action, through the bodies and the use of a material which has its own agency in space.

The piece is a dialogue between the body, the voice, the electronic soundscape and the material as manifestations of different feminine archetypes retelling their story, and reclaiming their identity as wise, strong and resourceful. These archetypes are inspired by Greek mythology’s goddesses, mediaeval witches, and contemporary women warriors fighting for their rights. Starting from investigating how thousands of years of history have been inscribed on the body, the piece aims to offer a poetic and ultimately cathartic experience of the female body as a sacred place.
